Game Engine examines the thin barrier between the analogue and digital worlds we live in. Where in the past the technological development proceeded at a leisurely pace, nowadays developments follow each other at a rapid pace and it sometimes seems as if people are part of the digital world instead of the other way around.
Inspiration for Game Engine is therefore the rise of the digital age and the seemingly faster pace in which it moves. Inseparably linked to this era, is the bit, the ultimate building block of the modern digital world, in Game Engine depicted as a black and white cube.
With the help of these cubes, the dancers shape and distort the world, bit by bit, and the worlds gradually merge into each other until finally everything is digital. The rhythmic, almost hypnotic, playing of the percussion and tabla embodies the mechanical attack and response of the computer.
