Together, Frequentie & Frequentie2 form a double bill in dance in which the importance of rhythm and wavelenght for humans is investigated. It is about the interaction between man and nature, the continuous dance of give and take, of destruction and creation.

The search for that eternal balance is in both pieces depicted by patterns. The language of dance evolves from continuously repeating basic and everyday movements into an alienated mass of strange, twisted and capricious forms. It is a reflection on man’s temporary response to nature’s inevitable compulsion to form and restrict; reflected in technology and science. Frequentie & Frequentie² try to discover the position of man in nature, and as such lie at the very heart of Wave.

Frequentie is a solo for a dancer and an hourglass that rhythmically scatters sand across the stage like a large pendulum. This creates organic sand patterns that mark the area within which the dancer can move. Frequentie² is about two dancers who confront so called Chladni patterns. These are physical patterns produced by sound waves of different, ascending frequencies on the dance floor or on a canvas. The sand patterns symbolize the undulating symbiosis between man and physics.
